Does Star Wars Outlaws actually respect the series’ lore? Or does it throw it in the bin?

Contents show Does Star Wars Outlaws respect lore? New lore to explore The latest game set in a galaxy far, far away, Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws offers a lot of space to explore in a gorgeous open world. Alongside painstakingly recreating worlds you adore, Ubisoft has said the game’s selection of planets were designed to specifically respect the lore you love. Does Star Wars Outlaws respect lore? While reviews are out now, including our Star Wars Outlaws review, very little has been said of the game’s respect to established lore. Sure, some achievements have references to Boba Fett and no lore is technically broken, but how much attention did Ubisoft pay to the series? In a new video doc by Ubisoft, the developer claimed the game’s planets were made with the series’ lore in mind. “We wanted all of the locations to actually provide players [with] something, whether it’s about the world, [or] telling players about the lore of Star Wars.” This meant that planets had to stick to their established lore in the current Star Wars universe. For example, no surprise oasis on Tatooine, or a random castle on an abandoned planet. “Star Wars locations are, as biomes, very strong statements,” Ubisoft said. “Like, all of Tatooine is desert, Kijimi is perpetual night and winter.” New lore to explore While Star Wars Outlaws does try its best to stay true to established lore, it has incorporated a lot of its own ideas. Protagonists Kay Vess and Nix are new additions alongside a number of side characters, and there’s even a new planet to explore. For fans of the Star Wars universe, Outlaws should be a tonne of fun, even though there is a large amount of toxicity surrounding the game online. Nevertheless, Ubisoft’s open world game — despite its bugs — is already a great Star Wars experience.
