Hezbollah Fires Rockets Into Israel on Anniversary of Hamas’s Oct. 7 Attack

Local media said that at least 10 people were injured in the attack, which targeted the cities of Haifa and Tiberias.

Rockets were fired from Lebanon toward the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tiberias on the eve of the anniversary of Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, cross-border attack into Israel, according to Israeli media.

Local media said that at least 10 people were injured in the Sunday evening attack. Israeli police confirmed that some buildings in Haifa were damaged and that there were some minor injuries.

The Iran-backed Hezbollah has claimed responsibility, saying that it was targeting a military base in Haifa with a salvo of “Fadi 1” missiles before launching another attack on Tiberias.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that sirens went off in Haifa when five projectiles launched from Lebanon were detected. It did not specify whether any of the projectiles were intercepted.

“Interceptors were fired. Fallen projectiles were identified in the area. The incident is under review,” the Israeli military stated on its Telegram channel.

The IDF said that another 15 projectiles were launched from Lebanon toward the upper Galilee area. Some of them were intercepted by Israel’s air defense system, while others fell in the area, it stated. It’s unclear whether any injuries were reported in Galilee.

These attacks occurred while the Israeli military launched airstrikes on Hezbollah’s weapons storage facilities, command centers, and other terrorist infrastructure sites in Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon.

The IDF accused Hezbollah of endangering civilians by “deliberately” embedding its command centers and weaponry underneath residential buildings in Beirut.

Security forces in Israel were on high alert on Monday as the country marked the first anniversary of Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack against Israel, during which the terror group killed at least 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages.

The IDF said that more than 120 projectiles were launched from Lebanon into Israel on the eve of the commemoration, noting that the launches were carried out by the Iran-backed Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas.
